WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU VOTE

Voting empowers all citizens to have their voices heard. The criminal justice system affects our entire community, and it’s important to have strong leadership guiding the way. Help keep our democracy strong and learn how to cast your vote when it matters most. 

ELECTION DATES

PRIMARY ELECTION: NOVEMBER 3, 2020

GENERAL ELECTION: DECEMBER 5, 2020

You can find your voting location through the Secretary of State’s Voter Portal, using your full name, zip code and your birth month/year. All dates may be subject to change.

REGISTER TO VOTE

Make sure you are registered to vote prior to the election. You may do so online using the GeauxVote Online Registration or in-person at any Registrar of Voters Office. Voter registration deadlines for the Primary are October 5, 2020 and October 13, 2020 (Online only). General Election registration deadlines are November 4, 2020 and November 14, 2020 (Online Only).

BRING PHOTO IDENTIFICATION

When you go to the polls to cast your vote in an election, be sure to take one of the following:

  • Driver’s License
  • Louisiana Special ID
  • LA Wallet Digital Driver’s License
  • United States Military Identification Card that contains the applicant’s name and picture;
  • Some other generally recognized picture ID that contains your name and signature.

Voting Before Election Day

Every vote counts! Voters who are unable to vote in-person on Election Day may choose to vote early in-person or by mail. The Louisiana Secretary of State’s office has even created a COVID-19 Emergency Ballot Application for those impacted by the illness. Contact the Secretary of State’s office or your Parish Registrar of Voters for more details.

OCTOBER 16th – OCTOBER 27th

MAIL-IN BALLOT REQUEST DEADLINE*:
OCTOBER 30th

DEADLINE TO RECEIVE BALLOTS:
NOVEMBER 2ND

Early voting dates have been expanded by three days and hours expanded from 8 AM to 7 PM.
